Online Couples Counselling
Hello, my name is Elaine Brown and I am a fully qualified ‘Relate’ trained relationship therapist. I have had over eight years’ experience both privately and with Relate supporting couples, individuals and young people.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I am also an accredited member of the NCS (National Counselling Society).
My experience
Over a number of years, I have worked both in the private and public sector, as well as for voluntary and charity organisations. This involved supporting a wide range of people, in a variety of different working environments, both in the UK and overseas. My work as a relationship therapist has led me to working with people from all walks of life and a wide range of diverse cultures and backgrounds. This includes same gender relationships, blended families, couples living apart, with or without children.
How I can help
Online couples counselling is often reflective and can be a difficult journey. Therefore, making the decision to come along for counselling can feel a brave one to make. However, it is an important investment for you both individually and as a couple. I consider myself to be honest and considerate with a down to earth, friendly approach. I will use my experience, integrity and understanding to ensure you both feel heard, listened to and supported throughout the counselling journey.
Couples often tell me that the problems in their relationship go back months, if not years. And I’m aware how difficult this can be. Therefore, during our work together at online couples counselling .I will help you navigate your way through your problems with empathy, kindness and respect.
I will endeavour to ensure you feel you have chosen the right relationship therapist for you. During my work, I use a variety of different theoretical approaches and therapeutic tools. Tailoring to them to suit your particular needs. I will not judge you, but instead help you both to really understand each other’s perspectives. This will enable you to move forward in the way you choose.
LGBTQ+
I also have extensive experience in supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and couples both younger and older. From my experience within my own family and friends I understand some of the differences, difficulties, challenges, and nuances that being LGBTQ+ can bring within all aspects of life including family dynamics, working environment, and social norms.
Ethical Standards
I subscribe to and work within the NCS code of practice and BACP ethical framework.
I also undertake regular professional development, have regular clinical supervision and hold professional indemnity insurance.
