Online Relationship Therapy

My name is Madeleine Kingsley and I’m a fully qualified Relate-trained relationship counsellor and member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy). I have 28 years of experience providing therapy for both couples and individuals.

I have written extensively about relationships and family life for newspapers and magazines. Interviewing experts in the field gave me great insight into how we think, feel and interact as couples. I was then inspired to train, share their wisdom and do this transformative work myself.

Relationships

It’s all too easy for the pressures of life – such as raising a family, work tension, issues with in-laws or financial worries – to chip away at intimacy. Stress can also deplete  excitement and that sense of being the soulmates you once were.

Often couples find themselves on shaky ground due to challenging life stages. This might be through the transition to parenthood, family illness, living with teenagers or an empty nest. You might still function as a working team but the emotional connection has stalled and romance has done a runner.

How I can help you

During our online relationship therapy sessions, I will listen attentively to you both. I offer a safe and confidential space to help you work out whether your relationship is just going through a bad patch or if it has, sadly, run its course.

I’m passionate about supporting couples through tough times, towards a brighter but  realistic future. Couples often start out feeling full of love and desire for each other, only to find themselves questioning where the ‘spark’ has gone. My job is to help you restore closeness and remember the strengths that brought you together in the first place.

You may be stuck in a cycle of arguments which you feel unable to resolve. Or perhaps you feel as though you have nothing significant to say to each other anymore. You may think it too risky to raise the issues that divide you for fear of conflict Some couples rub along in a ‘too good to leave, too bad to stay’ state.  They assume this is just what happens when you’ve been together for a while.

I don’t believe that any couple needs to ‘settle’ in a relationship. It may only take some professional relationship counselling to help you re-ignite the spark and set you up for a fresh and closer future.

I won’t judge you or make decisions for you.  Relationship therapy is a shared voyage of exploration. With my help you will come to see your own relationship more clearly, set your own goals and make your own choices.

Moving you forward

My online relationship therapy techniques will help you communicate more effectively. You can start sharing your thoughts and feelings with kindness as well as honesty. My training to work with families, children and young people enables me to see the bigger picture of which you are part.

Unhappy relationships can be vulnerable to affairs which lead to deep hurt and damage.

I won’t try and glue you back together if you feel the infidelity has struck a blow beyond repair and you choose to separate. If that’s the case, I will help you do so with the least possible pain and bitterness.

However, affairs don’t necessarily have to be terminal. I can help lead couples beyond blame, guilt and recrimination. We can explore what precipitated the infidelity in the first place and help you rebuild trust over time.

I work diversely and have experience working with same gender relationships. mixed cultures, families and friendships.

Ethical standards

I subscribe to and work within the BACP code of ethics and ethical framework. I undertake regular professional development to maintain a high level of knowledge and practice and regular supervision with ongoing professional indemnity insurance.
