    About Jacquie

Hello, my name is Jacquie Young and I am a fully qualified ‘Relate’ trained Relationship Therapist specialising in online couples counselling. I firmly believe that whatever your reason for seeking support, taking an open and honest look at your relationship is deeply beneficial. Whether you are navigating a difficult period, facing a crisis, or trapped in repeating patterns that feel impossible to break, I provide a warm and non-judgemental environment to explore these challenges.

I understand that asking for help takes immense courage. Many couples I work with share that they wish they had sought support much sooner. My approach is proactive and collaborative; I don't just sit back, but actively engage in the therapeutic process with you. Together, we will gain a better understanding of your individual needs and expectations, looking closely at how communication takes place between you and identifying what stands in the way of the relationship you want.

During our sessions, I draw upon a variety of theoretical approaches tailored to your unique situation. I strive to create a safe, comfortable space where both partners feel empowered to express their true feelings—even those who may have been hesitant to start therapy. We will deconstruct repetitive arguments and pinpoint the necessary changes required to meet your goals.

People are often amazed at the profound impact of truly being listened to and having a professional offer a fresh perspective on their partnership. My aim is to help you move forward with clarity, whether that means revitalising your connection or navigating a separation with dignity and mutual understanding.

    Background & Experience

I have over 20 years of experience working with both couples and individuals, holding an Advanced University Diploma in Couple Counselling. Throughout my career, I have worked across diverse settings, from local government focusing on housing policy to lecturing in a multicultural college in East London. These roles have fostered my commitment to inclusivity and deepened my understanding of people from all walks of life.

A significant portion of my career has been dedicated to the voluntary sector, where I supported individuals through challenges including mental health, domestic abuse, and reparative justice. I also have extensive experience working with individuals on the autistic spectrum and supporting their families during difficult times. This varied background allows me to bring a broad, empathetic perspective to my relationship work.

During my time with Relate, I worked in conjunction with CAFCASS, utilising my expertise as both a couples counsellor and a qualified child therapist. Often, this involved helping separating parents reach agreements and create shared plans that prioritised the well-being of their children. I am experienced in working with same-gender and mixed-culture relationships, as well as blended families, navigating the unique dynamics that these contexts can bring.

    How I can help

We will address areas of emotional stagnation or disconnection, then collaboratively develop strategies to rebuild intimacy and ensure both partners' needs and expectations are genuinely met.

I'll provide practical tools and gentle guidance to help you navigate disagreements constructively, manage expectations effectively, and restore a sense of partnership.

We'll focus on enhancing your communication skills, helping you express yourselves and listen to each other with greater clarity and understanding.
