About Janine
Hello, my name is Janine Knight. As a fully qualified and experienced relationship counsellor, I offer a caring and empathetic approach to help you explore the aspects of your partnership that are no longer working well. Whether you are dealing with a loss of connection, a betrayal, or are simply struggling to communicate effectively, I will help you look at your situation step by step.
I provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can share your thoughts in a structured way. Together, we will examine how you navigate and make sense of what is happening in the relationship. My goal is to foster a trusting therapeutic environment where both of you feel heard and respected.
I use an integrative and 'emotionally focused' style to explore your unique situation, using systemic and psychodynamic therapy. This applies to you both as individuals and as a couple. If you are unsure what you want I will help you find the clarity you need. My down-to-earth and calm communication style is designed to put you at ease as we work together to understand the patterns and dynamics in your relationship.

Background & Experience
I am specifically qualified in relationship therapy, meaning I am professionally trained to work with two people simultaneously while maintaining a dedicated focus on the relationship dynamic. My training was carried out through 'Relate', where I gained a Level 5 Post Graduate Diploma. Over the years, I have gained extensive experience working with a diverse range of couples across different ages, cultures, and sexualities.
Prior to specialising in couples counselling, I worked as a Registered Midwife within the NHS. This background gave me a deep appreciation for the psychological aspects of care, particularly in providing emotional support following trauma. The transition to counselling was a natural evolution of these skills. I have also volunteered as a trained mediator, helping to resolve neighbourhood and family disputes, which further informs my ability to manage conflict and facilitate understanding between parties.
