    About Madeleine

I am passionate about supporting couples through tough times towards a brighter but realistic future. Often, couples start out full of love and desire, only to find themselves questioning where the ‘spark’ has gone. My role is to help you restore closeness, remembering the strengths that first brought you together while navigating the difficult periods every partnership faces.

In our safe and confidential sessions, I will listen attentively to you both without judgement. I don’t make decisions for you or apportion blame; instead, I view relationship therapy as a shared voyage of exploration. Together, we will make sense of the thorny patches you are experiencing and work to understand each other’s viewpoints more deeply.

I believe that counselling can be transformative without requiring scary, seismic changes. I aim to help you see that it is often small, manageable adjustments that can lift and lighten your partnership, providing you with the tools to communicate with both honesty and kindness.

I also provide a space where you can talk comfortably about intimacy. Whether you are struggling with a drop in desire, the impact of the menopause, or feeling distant after an affair, we can explore how to reconnect. While I don't offer formal sex therapy for physical dysfunctions, I specialise in the emotional and relational aspects of your sexual connection.

    Background & Experience

I am a Relate-qualified counsellor with over 30 years of experience in the field. My professional journey is grounded in extensive training, including a Relate Certificate in Couples Counselling and a Postgraduate Diploma in Family Counselling. I am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), adhering to their professional and ethical standards.

In addition to my work with couples, my background includes specialised training for working with families, children, and young people. This broader experience allows me to see the 'bigger picture' of the systems you are part of, helping me understand how external family dynamics may be influencing your primary relationship.

    How I can help

I'll help you break free from repetitive cycles of arguments or fraternal living to restore your romantic connection.

We will work together to navigate challenging life transitions such as parenthood, the empty nest, or the menopause.

I'll support you in processing and moving forward following deeply hurtful events like an affair.

We'll explore tools and techniques to help you communicate your needs with honesty and kindness.

I will provide a safe space to discuss intimacy and desire, helping you bring back the 'spark' in your relationship.

We'll identify and build upon the original strengths that first brought you together as a couple.
