Daniel Saccoccio
Hello, my name is Daniel. I’m a BACP-registered Person-Centred Therapist and Relationship Counsellor. I hold a BA (Hons) degree from the Metanoia Institute and completed my specialist couple therapy training with Relate over 10 years ago.
I believe therapy should be a space where you feel truly heard, understood, and accepted. Relationship counselling offers a safe, supportive environment for you both to explore the root of your difficulties. It gives each of you the opportunity to speak openly and be listened to without judgement.
For some, therapy can be life-changing. For others, it simply helps resolve issues before they grow into something bigger.
Qualifications
BA (Hons) Person Centred Counselling Diploma in Relational Counselling from Relate
Background/Experience
Life can change in an Instant. Back in 2001, at the start of a new century, I was a 45-year-old father and husband. I owned a restaurant in London and was earning a good living. Then I lost it all, the restaurant, the house, and eventually my marriage.
During this painful time, I saw a therapist who helped me begin to make sense of it all. He had faced his own life struggles and truly understood what I was going through. That experience stayed with me.
It was this that led me to retrain as a therapist, and I now hope to offer that same understanding and perspective to all the people I work with.
How I can help you
- Promoting Relational Empowerment Over Individualism
I will encourage you both to shift from focusing solely on personal fulfilment to embracing shared responsibility in your relationship. It's about recognising how your actions affect your partner, not just your intentions. - Compassionately Confronting Dysfunctional Behaviours
Through using a direct, firm, but compassionate style, I will gently challenge behaviours such as withdrawal, contempt, or passive aggression. This helps break destructive cycles and rebuilds trust and closeness. - Teaching Practical Skills for Real Connection
I will support you both to develop skills such as active listening, setting boundaries, speaking from vulnerability, and responding without defensiveness - all essential for healthy, lasting intimacy. - Uncovering and Healing Family-of-Origin Wounds
Together, we will work to understand how your early experiences, such as emotional neglect, trauma, or control, can show up in adult relationships - often unconsciously - Challenging Traditional Gender Roles and Patriarchy
We will explore how cultural and gender conditioning, particularly the impact of patriarchy, can limit emotional expression and create imbalance in relationships - for both men and women.
