About Mark Reumel
Hello, my name is Mark Reumel and I am a fully qualified couples counsellor with over 8 years’ experience. I hold a Diploma in Advanced Psychotherapeutic Counselling’ and I am accredited by the NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society)
I take a common sense, step by step and non-judgemental approach to couple therapy and will work with you as individuals, as well as the relationship as an entity in its own right. Together, we will gain insight and understanding into any unhelpful patterns of behaviour that may have developed over time. You will both be given the opportunity to open up and explain what isn’t working for you and why. In turn, this will allow your partner the opportunity to really listen and try to understand your point of view.
We will then work together to create a stronger and more satisfying bond between you. I will also help you develop the relevant tools to help you deal with conflict more effectively in future.
I will tailor the sessions for your specific needs because every individual and relationship is unique. If you are unsure as to what you would like the outcome to be at this stage, that’s okay, we will work together to help you find clarity and understanding.

Background/Experience
Prior to qualifying as a Psychotherapist 8 years ago I had many years’ experience, working in commercial organisations, in Training and Managerial roles. Both my working and life experiences with varied cultures, have enabled me to become an effective therapist. Defusing situations and creating a positive atmosphere for understanding and empathy to evolve effectively, enables me to help those who feel “stuck” in their relationship. My compassionate, yet objective approach, helps me to identify areas of the relationship and individuals’ thinking, that are currently causing disagreement and tension.
My approach is non-judgemental and is not to apportion blame, it is simply to help each couple move to a better position for the benefit of their relationship and their individual satisfaction and happiness.
How I can help you
- I use a variety of different theoretical approaches and will quickly find out which will be the most helpful for your unique situation.
- I will help you gain a better understanding of each other’s perspectives. This will be achieved through a calm, non-accusatory, therapeutic process
- My work is diverse and my experience spans across couples of all ages, genders, sexual orientation, or different cultural identities.
- My communication style is friendly, relatable, and down to earth, so I will help you move forward in whichever way you choose.
- I will help you both to be more patient, respectful and understanding of each other’s experiences so you are able to move forward more positively
